FIELD: processing of metals.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used for manufacturing rod-like fastening elements made of metal with a head and thread, for example a screw. By upsetting the wire rod, its cross-section is increased. Wherein before upsetting, the yield point and yield strength are increased by strain. After upsetting, the cross-section of the fastening element in the longitudinal section is reduced by 1 - 2% by pushing the element through the die.
EFFECT: as a result, the bending strength of the obtained fastening element is increased.
