FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the application of a coating to the surface of a steel article used to protect against erosive wear of blades of wet steam stages of turbines operating under extreme conditions. Method includes ionic cleaning of the article surface and the vacuum chamber in an inert gas environment, ion etching and ion-plasma nitriding of the article surface, applying the coating by physical vapor deposition. Ion etching and nitriding of the article surface are carried out simultaneously with the use of a dual magnetron sputtering system as sources of argon plasma with an increased ionic current density on the article when the product is heated to a temperature of 370–430 °C with simultaneous supply of nitrogen gas. Coating by physical vapor deposition is carried out by successively alternating a microlayer of chromium with a total thickness of 0.5–1.5 mcm and a microlayer of chromium nitride with a total thickness of 2–3 mcm to obtain a coating with a total thickness of 5–30 mcm.
EFFECT: expansion of the field of application of coatings by the physical vapor deposition method for various grades of blade steels is provided.
