FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for pulsed laser modification and ion-plasma surface hardening and can be used, for example, in power engineering to protect the working blades of wet-steam turbine stages from wear caused by drop-impact erosion. The method for coating the surface of a steel product includes ion cleaning of the surface of the products and the vacuum chamber in an inert gas environment, ion etching and ion-plasma nitriding of the surface of the product, and before ion cleaning of the product, the surface relief of the product is textured by pulsed laser modification of the surface using an infrared ytterbium fiber laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm and an average laser radiation power of no more than 22.4 W with a given depth of depressions and height of protrusions 10÷30 mcm, width of protrusions and width of depressions 40÷60 mcm, grooves are formed with a longitudinal direction and a parallel ratio of the grooves to each other, and the depth of ion-plasma nitriding-hardening of the surface is chosen equal to 30÷100 mcm.
EFFECT: increasing of wear resistance of the coating.
