FIELD: measurement; testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system for monitoring the concentrations of multiple analytes in a liquid sample, comprising a test element for analysing a sample with respect to first and second analytes, and a portable measuring device comprising a display, a processor and memory communicating with the test element and configured to determine the concentration in the sample of the first analyte, which is hydroxybutyrate; determining whether the concentration of the first analyte exceeds a predetermined value in the range of 0.5 to 3.0 mmol/l; outputting a first signal if the concentration of the first analyte exceeds a predetermined value, for issuing an indication associated with the concentration of the first analyte; determining the concentration in the sample of the second analyte, which is glucose; outputting a second signal for outputting information relating to the concentration of the second analyte; determining whether the concentration of the second analyte exceeds a predetermined value of 240 mg/dl; activating special ketone control mode if the concentration determined for any of the first and second analytes exceeds the corresponding predetermined value.
EFFECT: invention relates to a method for monitoring concentrations of multiple analytes in a liquid sample using a test element performed to analyse a sample with respect to first and second analytes, and a portable measuring device comprising a display, a processor and memory and communicating with one or more test elements to determine the concentration of at least first and second analytes in a liquid sample applied to said one or more test elements, wherein the first analyte is hydroxybutyrate, and the second analyte is glucose.
