SUBSTANCE: invention relates to process for preparation of aqueous solutions of low molecular weight copolymers of monoethylene unsaturated carboxylic acids with 3-4 carbon atoms and to their use as scaling inhibitors in water circulation systems and in heat power engineering. Method for preparing the polymer scaling inhibitor is carried out by radical polymerization of the monomeric components in a mixture of water and an organic solvent. Radical copolymerization of acrylic and/or methacrylic and/or maleic and/or fumaric acids and/or allylsulfonic acid, and/or their water-soluble salts with a monomer concentration of 10–30 % by weight, as the organic solvent, acetonitrile is used, peroxo compounds in the concentration of 0.1–1 % by weight are used as the initiator without the use of phosphorus- and sulfur-containing molecular weight regulators in the mode of dosing the reagents into the reaction mass, and after termination of the polymerization, the reaction mass is concentrated by evaporation of the organic solvent.

EFFECT: polymers obtained can be used to prevent salt deposits even in supersaturated solutions of calcium salts.
