FIELD: wireless communication equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communications and is intended to improve the coverage of a low power machine-to-machine (LC-MTC) transceiver unit (WTRU). Method for improving a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) includes receiving system information on an enhanced PBCH (ePBCH). ePBCH is located in the radio frame set, which is a subset of the available radio frames, the subset including not all available radio frames. ePBCH is received in at least one radio frame from the radio frame set. Exemplary method for improving a physical random access channel (PRACH) includes receiving a resource configuration of legacy PRACH and enhanced PRACH (ePRACH) resources. WTRU selects one of the legacy PRACH resources or ePRACH resources based on the coverage capabilities. Another exemplary method for improving PRACH includes receiving an ePRACH resource configuration. ePRACH resources include multiple ePRACH resource types, with each type of ePRACH resource associated with coverage capabilities.
