SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology, specifically to a method for determining the presence/absence of a fl2 mutation using maize plant tissue, as well as to a genetically engineered maize plant. Some embodiments disclose a method of reliable and predictable introgression of a high lysine content trait into a plant genetic material, as well as a nucleic acid molecule encoding an alpha-zein protein.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to effectively detect a mutant fl2 allele and determine zygosity in candidate plants, reduces the time required for plant selection with the desired properties.
