FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the production of pure noble metal nanoparticles with facets and controlled sizes. Method includes carrying out a reduction reaction of a precursor substance in a reactant solution containing a precursor substance in the form of a noble metal salt or a noble metal complex, or mixtures of salts/complexes of noble metals, and a reducing agent, to obtain a reaction solution containing nanoparticles. Reduction reaction is carried out in the absence of a surfactant at an initial precursor concentration in the reactant solution of 50 to 100 mM. Said reduction reaction is stopped after a predetermined time t of 14 seconds to 2 hours by rapid cooling with lowering of the temperature of the reaction solution at a rate greater than or equal to 0.15°C/s.

EFFECT: providing environmentally safe production of noble metal nanoparticles with enhanced catalytic properties.
