SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine, namely to traumatology and orthopedics, and is intended for use in the operation of arthrodesis of the knee joint. Device for arthrodesis of the knee joint is used, including a curved femoral rod, which has, at the proximal end, holes for blocking made in the frontal plane. In this case, the distal end of the rod has four holes for locking screws and a bend of 5° forward. In this case, the planes of the holes for distal blocking are made in pairs in mutually perpendicular planes and at an angle of 45° relative to the plane of the holes for proximal blocking. Method of using the device for arthrodesis of the knee joint includes opening the canals of the femoral and tibia bones, the open adaptation of articular surfaces, orthograde insertion of the rod with its proximal and distal blocking. In this case, before blocking, the device used is deployed inwards to 45°.

EFFECT: inventions make it possible to restore the mechanical axis of the lower limb after arthrodesis of the knee joint with the intramedullary rod and to exclude the threat of perforation of the posterior cortical plate of the tibia.
