SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically means for determining the maximum sonication energy. Medical device comprises a system of high-intensity focused ultrasound for sonication of a subject, a processor for controlling the medical device, memory for storing computer-executable instructions, wherein the execution of the instructions causes the processor to receive the previous sonication data characterising the previous sonication of the subject with the high-intensity focused ultrasound system, build a thermal property map of the subject using the previous sonication data and a thermoacoustic model, wherein the thermal property map characterises thermal properties and is spatially dependent and time-dependent, determine a maximum energy map using the thermoacoustic model and the thermal property map, wherein the maximum energy is time dependent, display the maximum energy map on a display and receive a selection of at least one sonication volume from a user interface. Device is provided with a computer-readable medium and implements a method of operating a medical device to determine the maximum sonication energy.
EFFECT: use of inventions makes it possible to accurately determine the maximum sonication energy.
