FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for producing high-manganese low-magnetic steel castings in metallic moulds. Protective coating is applied to the working surface of the metal mould, a high-manganese steel melt is filled into the mould, the melt is further cooled. Facing protective coating with thickness of 0.5–1.0 mm is applied to the working surface of the metal mould before each melt filling. In the gate system sump, the refrigerator is rigidly fixed in the form of a plate of carbon steel with thickness of 1.0–2.0 mm, the refrigerator is heated to a temperature of 0.05–0.1 Tcas before placing it in the mould, where Tcas is a high-manganese steel casting temperature.
EFFECT: method provides the exclusion of casting defects on the surface of the castings while maintaining their relative permeability level.
