METHOD OF ESTIMATION OF HYDRATING OF THE EYE CORNEA Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61B3/10 A61B5/1455 G01N21/01

Abstract RU 2662273 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used to assess the hydration of the cornea of the eye. Affect the cornea with the resulting radiation with a frequency in the range of 30–90 GHz, obtained as a result of optical photomixing of the radiation of phase-synchronized semiconductor laser sources of the near infrared range. At a given wavelength of generation of one of the laser sources, the length of the other is selected in such a way that, on the one hand, their difference was as close as possible to the value at which the maximum spectral sensitivity is 20 GHz. On the other hand, so that the diameter of the spot of the radiation focused on the cornea with the resulting frequency does not exceed its size. Determine the magnitude of the reflection coefficient from the amplitude of the reflected radiation using a heterodyne detector with heterodynes based on the optical generation of a sub-THz-signal. Evaluate the hydration of the cornea by the magnitude of the reflection coefficient.

EFFECT: method provides an increase in the accuracy of determining the water content in the cornea with the possibility of earlier diagnosis of pathological changes in the cornea in various diseases by eliminating the contribution to the useful signal of reflected radiation from other eye structures.
