FIELD: medicine, experimental ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: physical method of influence is performed in an experiment on rabbits, while on one of the eyes the upper layer of the cornea is removed with a depth of 50 microns with an area of 2.5×2.5 mm and the eye is once exposed to terahertz radiation with a power during the exposure period in the range of 26–68 nW with a transmission frequency of 0.1–2.0 THz and a pulse duration of 2.5 ps for 5 minutes. After that, the cornea is stained with a 0.5% fluorescein solution and the epithelization defect of the anterior segment of the eye is examined using a microscope and a fluorescein test with simultaneous photographic recording for 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours.
EFFECT: method allows to establish that terahertz radiation does not affect normal physiological functions of the eye: accelerates the process of regeneration of the cornea by low-power THz radiation for the treatment of the cornea in the postoperative period, accelerate the process of epithelialization of injuries received in everyday life, and in wartime.
