FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: device relates to microwave equipment, to electrovacuum electronic devices, which is a kind of terahertz type travelling wave generator with feedback. Device includes a travelling-wave tube (TWT) which operates in a self-modulation mode, i.e. generates a sequence of radio pulses with microwave (up to subterahertz and terahertz frequencies) filling, with a repetition period of the order of the radio pulse duration, is connected according to a feedback circuit. Radio pulses repetition period control in device circuit is achieved by means of switch, controlled by a laser pulse, which converts a sequence of radio pulses of TWT with a fixed minimum repetition period of the order of the duration of the radio pulse into a sequence of correlated radio pulses with a repetition period equal to an arbitrary integer of the repetition period of radio pulses at the output of the TWT.

EFFECT: possibility of controlling the repetition rate of radio pulses in a wide range with filling in the microwave, subterahertz and terahertz frequency ranges.
