FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: to determine the value of the reflected signal from the cornea in sub-terahertz action, a tunable generator with power of 0.5 to 1 mWt is used as a source of sub-terahertz radiation, with central frequency of 100 GHz and wavelength λ≈3 mm of incident and reflected radiation. Radiation is directed to the cornea with the help of a directional coupler and a waveguide-luminary transition and focused on the cornea with the help of a Teflon lens. Reflected signal is collected by the same Teflon lens with the help of a directional coupler is directed to a detector, the electric signal from which is measured using a selective voltmeter. Value of the reflected signal from the cornea is determined from its value.
EFFECT: invention provides determining the change in the content of water in the cornea with the possibility of scanning on the surface of the cornea and in its stroma, which can provide information on the distribution of water in the cornea over the surface and in its thickness and enables more accurate diagnosis of pathological changes of the cornea in various diseases, as well as cost-effectiveness.
