FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry, specifically to a process for the preparation of 2-(chlorophenoxy)-propionic acid derivatives, comprising boiling 4-chloropentene-2 in acetone with the appropriate chlorophenol at a molar ratio of reactants of 1:1 in the presence of 0.1 equivalents of tetrabutylammonium iodide and 2 equivalents of potassium carbonate, ozonation of the corresponding O-(1-methyl-2-butenyl)-chlorophenol in a mixture of methylene chloride and acetic acid at a mixing ratio of 1:0.03 (v/v) at 0 °C followed by oxidation with semicarbazide hydrochloric acid. Advantages of the proposed method are: technological simplicity, reduction of multi-stage process, cost-effectiveness due to the use of affordable and cheap components. Yield of the resulting 2-(chlorophenoxy)-propionic acid derivatives is in the range 39–86 %.
EFFECT: proposed method for the preparation of 2-(chlorophenoxy)-propionic acid derivatives may be used in the synthesis of new 2-(chlorophenoxy)-propionic acid derivatives for use in agriculture as herbicides.
