FIELD: printing industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to security elements based on liquid crystal cholesteric coatings which are subsequently coated with an additional coating containing transition metal nanoparticles of plate-like shape, a method of manufacturing same on a glass, paper or plastic substrate, and a security product obtained using a security element. Security element may further comprise an embossed microstructure of a surface relief, especially an optically variable image, such as a hologram.
EFFECT: security element of the invention exhibits a colour change depending on the angle, as well as a different colour in reflection and transmission and when used in printing optically variable images, provides an extremely bright image and extremely strong rainbow effect, high purity and/or contrast, which allows the effective use of said security elements to prevent the falsification or reproduction of valuable documents.
