FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the pre-expanded poly(meth)acrylimide (P(M)I) particles production method, which can be further processed with production of parts from the molded foam or composite materials. Pre-expanded poly(meth)acrylimide (P(M)I) particles production method, which can be used for foaming in the mold, is in that the P(M)I non-foamed particles are pre-foamed under the infrared radiation, at least 80 % of which has the wavelength of 1.4 to 10.0 mcm.

EFFECT: by means of the method according to the invention it is possible to achieve the pre-expanded particles P(M)I bulk density significantly lower values, that is, significantly higher degrees of pre-expansion, for the very short period of time.
