SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radio communication. In the method, a wireless device for communicating with a node comprises: a processor communicating with the memory to execute processor executable instructions, the wireless device is configured to receive control channels from the RAN node prior to accessing; evaluate the state of the radio communication; display the estimated downlink radio link state in one of a plurality of downlink RCC coverage categories in a number of downlink retransmissions; transmit the first message to the RAN node; and receive the second message from the RAN node, wherein the wireless device transmits, in the direction of the CN node, the updated RCC downlink value in the cell update.

EFFECT: technical result is to provide radio coverage enhancement for a wireless device based on the uplink and downlink radio link state information exchange.
