FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in biomedicine. Method for producing clusters of magnetite nanoparticles involves heating solution of iron compound in high boiling organic solvent in inert gas atmosphere in presence of 1,2-hexadecanediol and organic acid and subsequent separation of resulting clusters. As the iron compound, iron (III) compound or iron pentacarbonyl is used. When iron pentacarbonyl is used as iron compound, after heating its solution in inert gas atmosphere, it is further heated in presence of oxygen. As organic acid, cyclopropanecarboxylic acid or 1-indanecarboxylic acid or mixture of oleic acid with one of acids selected from group consisting of biphenyl-4-carboxylic acid and cyclopropanecarboxylic acid is used. Solution is heated at a temperature not lower than 210 °C.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to improve magnetic properties of clusters from magnetite nanoparticles, in particular, to increase magnetization values and T2-relaxivity.
