Orthodontic bracket (10) for coupling archwire (18) with a tooth includes bracket body (12) configured to be mounted to the tooth and having archwire slot (16) adapted to receive archwire (18) therein. Rotatable closure member (14) is movable relative to bracket body (12) between an opened position in which archwire (18) can be inserted into archwire slot (16), and at least one closed position in which closure member (14) retains archwire (18) in archwire slot (16). Orthodontic bracket (10) further includes retention mechanism (130) having first element (132) associated with bracket body (12) and second element (134) associated with closure member (14), the first and second elements (132, 134) cooperating to rotatably secure closure member (14) to bracket body (12) and to provide at least one positive stop in the rotation of closure member (14) relative to bracket body (12).

EFFECT: group of inventions is intended for use in the treatment of dentoalveolar anomalies with the use of bracket systems.
