SUBSTANCE: using: for detecting matter. Summary of invention is in fact that a device for detecting matter includes: bulk feeding means configured for feeding a plurality of objects into a detecting region; at least one light source having a focusing element and being configured for illuminating at least one object in a respective first direction moving in an object plane in the detecting region; and a first light-analyzing apparatus arranged to sense light emitted from said at least one light source and transmitted through the object and to identify an amount of light received from said at least one light source, wherein said first light-analyzing apparatus is arranged to sense light having a direction within the field-of-view of said first light-analyzing apparatus, and wherein said respective first direction is different from the directions within the field-of-view of said first light-analyzing apparatus.
EFFECT: possibility of measuring only the ambient light for a certain period of time in order to subtract the result of measuring the ambient light from the result of measuring being carried out.
