SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composite material exhibiting piezoelectric and/or piezoresistive properties upon deformation. Deformation sensor is a homogeneous composite foam containing a non-layered mixture of a highly elastic polymer material with a plurality of pores and a plurality of conductive fillers distributed in the polymer material. Conductive nanoparticles and/or conductive stabilisers can be used as conductive fillers. Method of measuring compression strain includes detecting, along a first axis, an electrical response generated in response to an impact to a uniform composite material that includes conductive fillers and pores distributed throughout the highly elastic polymer, and determining deformation of the impact based on the electrical response. Impact may be along a second axis different from the first axis.
EFFECT: technical result: increased sensitivity, reduced drift, high repeatability with mechanical deformation up to 80% or more.
