SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an executive device having a controlled stiffness. Executive element (12) of the device contains material (16) based on an electroactive polymer, having light-absorbing filling elements (20) embedded in it. The filling elements are made with the possibility to absorb and convert incident light (26) into thermal energy to heat surrounding sections of the electroactive material. The specific degree and spread of heating can be provided throughout the executive element by deliberate control of the intensity level or the spectral composition of source (24) of the light directed at the executive element. As a result, the specific required stiffness or flexibility profile can be implemented throughout the executive element.
EFFECT: improved actuation function.
