FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, to medical diagnostics, and can be used to predict the risk of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) in individuals of Russian ethnic origin born and residing in the Central region of Russia. Peripheral venous blood is taken, the DNA is isolated, and the LOXL1 gene is tested. If the GG haplotype of the rs4886776 and rs893818 haplotype blocks of the LOXL1 gene is identified, a high risk of POAG is predicted.
EFFECT: development of new criteria for estimating the risk of POAG in non-related individuals of Russian ethnic origin born and residing in the Central region of Russia based on the data on rs4886776 and rs893818 polymorphisms of the LOXL1 gene.
