FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology and medical diagnostics, in particular to a method for predicting the risk of developing primary open-angle glaucoma with exfoliative syndrome (POAG with ES) in unrelated Russian individuals, natives of the Central Chernozem region of the Russian Federation. To implement this method, venous blood is first taken. After that, DNA is isolated from peripheral venous blood and polymorphisms rs2157719-rs944800-rs4977756 of the CDKN2B-AS1 gene are analyzed. A high risk of developing POAG with ES is predicted in individuals when the AGG haplotype of the rs2157719-rs944800-rs4977756 haplotype of the CDKN2B-AS1 gene is detected. At the preclinical stage it is possible to form risk groups among patients and timely implement in these groups the necessary therapeutic and preventive measures to prevent the development of POAG with ES.
EFFECT: obtaining criteria for assessing the risk of developing POAG with ES in unrelated Russian individuals, natives of the Central Chernozem region of the Russian Federation.
