FIELD: medical diagnostics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medical diagnostics and is intended to predict the risk of developing primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) in individuals of Russian nationality born and living in the Central region of Russia. Venous blood sampling, DNA extraction from peripheral venous blood, CDKN2-AS1 gene analysis are carried out. If the AG haplotype of the haploblock rs1063192 and rs7865618 of the CDKN2-AS1 gene is detected, a high risk of developing POAG is predicted.

EFFECT: invention provides for obtaining new criteria for assessing the risk of developing POAG in unrelated individuals of Russian nationality born and living in the Central region of Russia.
