FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: device (1) for protection against transient electrical overvoltages comprises two voltage-limiting passive components and disconnectors that are sensitive to a state of said components and adapted to individually disconnect each end of life component therefrom. Said components are connected in parallel between a first and a second terminal of the device. Device is characterised in that the reference voltage of the first component is less than the reference voltage of the second component. Ratio of reference voltages (Uref2 / Uref1) is less than 2, wherein at a voltage applied between the first and second terminals greater reference voltage (Uref1) of first component (3a), the current passing through first component (3a) is greater than the current passing through second component (3b), wherein the difference between said currents increases along with the voltage increase.
EFFECT: technical result is improved reliability.
