FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. Method for an engine, comprises, during boosted engine (10) operation with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) flowing below a first threshold, controlling canister (22) purge valve (CPV) (112). Purge flow rate is estimated based on an output of intake oxygen sensor (112) responsive to the control. First threshold is based on a response time of the CPV. Version of the method for the engine and an engine system are disclosed.
EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of the EGR flow estimation and the possibility of using it to adjust the EGR valve.
