FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to bioactive glass particles for the regeneration of bones, having the shape of spheres or compressed spheres and having a bimodal particle size distribution, comprising particles between 90 mcm and 180 mcm and particles between 355 mcm and 500 mcm, where the bioactive glass is 45S5 glass. Invention relates to a composition for the regeneration of bones which is implanted in a mammalian body, comprising a physiologically acceptable carrier and bioactive glass particles having the form of spheres or compressed spheres, wherein said bioactive glass particles have a bimodal particle size distribution that includes particles between about 90 mcm and about 180 mcm and particles between about 355 mcm and about 500 mcm; or particles between about 180 and about 355 mcm and particles between about 355 mcm and about 500 mcm.
EFFECT: invention relates to a porous implant for bone regeneration comprising said bioactive glass particles obtained by sintering.
