SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol generating apparatus for use in an aerosol generating system, the aerosol generating device comprising: a cavity configured to receive an aerosol generating article; heat exchanger comprising a first portion proximate the cavity and a second portion remote from the cavity to absorb heat from the lighter; and a sliding cover, sliding cover being movable from a first position in which the lid closes the second part of the heat exchanger to a second position in which the second part of the heat exchanger is open for heating by a lighter, and wherein the sliding cover is configured to automatically return from the second position to the first position when the second part of the heat exchanger reaches a threshold temperature.
EFFECT: increase in the content of the volatile compound in the gas phase.
