SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a portable device for extinguishing an aerosol-generating article containing a heat source for heating an aerosol-forming substrate. Portable extinguishing device configured to extinguish a solid heat source of the aerosol-generating article. Extinguishing device comprises an internal element passing between the first part and the opposite second part and having a longitudinal axis. First part comprises a cavity having a size that allows placing a solid heat source of an aerosol-generating article. First part also comprises outer shell completely surrounding at least part of inner element. Outer shell is made with possibility of sliding along longitudinal axis of internal element between open position and closed position. Cavity is made with possibility of access in the open position and surrounded by an external shell in the closed position. Inner element comprises drive element that can move along guide element of outer shell.

EFFECT: technical result is to simplify the design of the extinguishing device.
