SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an application system for applying a fluid, in particular polyvinyl chloride, adhesive, paint, lubricant, preservation wax, sealant, or PUR foam to a component, in particular to a motor vehicle body component. Application system comprises: (a) flow measuring cell (3) for measuring a mass flow of the fluid and for producing a measurement signal corresponding to the measured mass flow, (b) evaluating unit (7) for determining the mass flow from the measurement signal of the flow measuring cell (3) in accordance with a measuring specification, (c) applicator (6) for application of the fluid, (d) material supply (1) for conveying the fluid through the flow cell (3) to the applicator (6), wherein the system further comprises (e) calibrating device (8) for automatically calibrating the measuring specification of evaluating unit (7). Also described is an application method for applying a fluid by using said application system.

EFFECT: providing the advanced application system with the ability to automatically calibrate the measuring specification for the flow measurement cell by means of the calibrating device embedded in the application system.
