SUBSTANCE: invention relates to inorganic chemistry and nanotechnology and can be used to form a nanorelief in a microchannel, as a hydrophilic coating, a support for catalysts. To produce ultrafine aluminum oxide powder, aluminum salt is dissolved in distilled water and the solution is mixed with cellulose, dried at a temperature of 50–100 °C to form a homogeneous dispersed phase. Dispersed mass is heated to 1,000–1,200°C for 30–60 minutes in air until complete decomposition of the product in the form of homogeneous white-gray powder. Powder is dissolved in water and the resultant solution is filtered from residues of coal and large decomposition products.

EFFECT: simplified method for producing aluminum oxide nanoparticles is provided.
