SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear technology. Method for cleaning transport and technological capacities of a nuclear reactor from long radioactive elements of process equipment includes the fragmentation of highly active elements under water, using a remotely controlled cutting device that is movable with respect to the elements and orientable in space, and collecting the waste. Fragmentation of long elements and waste collection are carried out in nuclear reactor vessels. Fragmentation is carried out using a cutting device equipped with a hydraulic cutter. To capture fragments, a gripper device is used which is movable with respect to the processed elements, remotely orientable in space and equipped with a camera. Installation of cutting and gripping devices is carried out directly at the site of work.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to ensure the purification of nuclear reactor vessels from long radioactive elements irrespective of their size, location and condition.
