SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical technology. For the preparation of powdered samples of η-phase of composition TiO2-x×nH2O, where n=0.9–2.0, with the intercalation of poly-N-vinylcaprolactam (PVC) into the structure of the η-phase are carried out in the following steps. Mix aqueous solution of PVC, having a concentration of 1–10 wt. %, with titanyl sulfate TiOSO4×xH2O or with titanyl sulfate TiOSO4×xH2SO4×yH2O at a mass ratio of PVC:Ti4+ from 1:9.2 to 1:9.4. Heat the mixture from room temperature to 90±5 °C for 50–70 minutes with constant stirring. Resulting powder is separated by centrifugation and dried in an oven.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain a new intercalated poly-N-vinylcaprolactam η-modification of titanium dioxide, which has antimicrobial activity.
