FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: present invention is directed to the removal of fluoromethyl-1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoroisopropenyl ether (compound A) from sevoflurane in order to obtain high purity sevoflurane. One aspect of the invention relates to a process for the production of sevoflurane substantially free of compound A, comprising the following steps: bringing the composition containing hydrogen fluoride and water at a weight ratio of 1:1 to 1:30 into contact with an organic liquid containing sevoflurane and compound A, to obtain an organic liquid containing compound A in an amount that is less than its amount in the starting organic liquid and distilling the resulting organic liquid in the presence of a degradation inhibitor.
EFFECT: obtaining high purity sevoflurane.
