SUBSTANCE: adaptable ostomy base plate comprises a flexible top film and has at least a first section, at least a first elastic skin-friendly adhesive on a proximal surface of said flexible top film, a stoma-receiving through-hole in said first section. First section is adjacent to and extends radially from said through-hole. At least said first section has a first substantially convex shape for initial engagement with a peristomal skin surface, at least said first section being invertible to a first substantially concave shape to fittingly engage said first section to a topography of the peristomal skin surface for permanent engagement thereto. Base plate further comprises distally first coupling means for coupling engagement with corresponding coupling means on a collecting bag for human body wastes. Coupling means extends radially to the hole, the first coupling means being attached to an inner periphery of a radially outwards extending connecting element, and an outer periphery of the connecting element is attached to the top film, wherein the connecting element has a substantially concave shape.
