FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the production of an ester product by interesterification from a first mixture comprising at least two different ester compounds to form a second ester mixture having a lower melting point than the melting point of said first ester mixture comprising the following steps of: a) mixing at least two different starting ester compounds to form a first ester mixture and b) contacting said first ester mixture with a catalyst comprising from 30 to 60 wt% of calcium oxide and at least one second metal oxide, wherein the second metal oxide is selected from the group consisting of a group 2A metal oxide other than calcium, a transition metal oxide, a lanthanum oxide, a silica, an alumina and a metal aluminate. Invention also relates to a catalyst intended for use in interesterification reaction.
EFFECT: method for the production of an ester product is proposed.
