SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in piston machines. Device comprises composite piston (36) having a body made of a composite material. Composite material comprises a reinforcing material distributed in the matrix material and piston ring holder (46) connected to the piston body. Piston body has a hollow internal part and comprises several parts (72), (74) being separate parts, each of which is made of a composite material. Piston ring holder (46) is axially secured between respective outer protrusions (78) of first and second body parts (72), (74). Outer protrusions (78) extend axially relative to central axis (98). Piston ring holder (46) is axially adjacent to the end surfaces of the outer projections of first and second body parts (72), (74). Portion of each of outer protuberances (78) is radially outwardly, relative to central axis (98), from piston ring holder portion (46). First body part (72) comprises first inner sleeve (80). Second body part (74) comprises second inner sleeve (80). First and second inner sleeves (80) abut each other in the axial direction. Embodiments of the devices containing composite pistons are disclosed.
EFFECT: lighting piston and enabling the piston to operate at higher speeds.
