FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular to the production of long cylindrical rods of materials based on Ti-Al-C. It can be used to produce electrode materials in the electrolysis of non-ferrous metals. Method comprises premixing the starting components of a mixture of titanium, aluminum and soot powders in a molar ratio 3Ti-xAl-2C, where 1≤x≤2.5, and pressing the initial mixture into a cylindrical billet. Preform is heated to a temperature of 50–300 °C and initiate a reaction of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis, after which plastic deformation of the synthesized material through a forming matrix with an angle of the conical part of the matrix 120–180° at a plunger speed of the press 60–100 mm/s.
EFFECT: method provides obtaining materials with the specified composition, allows to simplify the technological process and increase productivity.
