SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio navigation. Claimed obstacle detection device (10) for equipping mobile unit (11) capable of moving parallel to reference plane (12) comprises: at least two emitters (14, 16, 19, 32, 34, 35) of an electromagnetic beam, configured to form two virtual planes (22, 23, 24, 26, 28, 29) in two different directions that may intersect between and with a possible obstacle, at least one image sensor (5, 6, 7) configured to create an intersection image of virtual planes (22, 23, 24, 26, 28, 29) and obstacles, image analysis means configured to detect the presence of an obstacle and to compare the image with the reference image.
EFFECT: detection of obstacles in the environment of the mobile unit.
