METHOD FOR SOLIDIFYING LIQUID RADIOACTIVE WASTE Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC G21F9/16

Abstract RU 2669202 C1

FIELD: recycling and disposal of waste; nuclear physics and technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of solidification of liquid radioactive waste (LRW). Method for solidifying LRW includes evaporation of waste by hot air being pumped at a temperature below the boiling point followed by condensation of air from the air, preparation of the cement compound by mixing the LRW concentrate obtained with evaporation with a cement binder and curing the cement compound. Evaporation of waste and preparation of cement compound is carried out by induction heating, maintaining a temperature in the concentrator-tank not exceeding 80 °C. At the evaporation stage, the level of evaporated waste is monitored and the portion feed of fresh waste is performed. Level of evaporated waste is maintained in the range of the volume of waste to be cured to the volume occupied by the solidified waste, and the multiplicity of evaporation of waste in a concentrator vessel, depending on the initial salt content, is controlled by a condensate meteorite, the volume of which is equal to one volume of evaporated waste destined for curing, in addition, the evaporation of waste and the preparation of cement compound are conducted with constant stirring.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to improve the quality of cement compounds by obtaining cured wastes of a homogeneous structure.
