SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring technology and can be used for the indispensable diagnosis of internal combustion engines under operating conditions, when controlling and optimizing engines, during finishing tests and studies of the engine working process, including on transient and unsteady operating modes. Method of obtaining the indicator diagram of a piston engine indirectly as a function of the angle of rotation of the crankshaft includes recording and extracting the pressure of gases in the cylinder as the specific forces on the rod of the connecting rod, in the measuring circuit, the top dead center position analysis unit is input, the output of which is connected to the computer input for the purpose of determining the top dead center position and its subsequent use as an argument in the trigonometric functions of gas pressure release in the cylinder when analyzing the forces in the crank mechanism as a function of the angle of rotation of the crankshaft.
EFFECT: use of indirectly obtained indicator diagrams by the proposed method makes it possible to implement it for the purposes of indispensable diagnostics of internal combustion engines under operating conditions and optimal engine control.
