FIELD: mechanical engineering; instrumentation. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for checking condition of internal combustion engine in operation. Proposed method is based on measuring stresses in studs or bolts transmitted through cylinder block head under action of gas pressure forces, and discriminating from dependence, thus found, inertia forces, internal forces and moments acting in engine base frame. Indirect diagram, thus found, is compared with standard diagram to determine condition of engine. For implementing the method special stress transducer is used which is installed under nut or bolt holding cylinder block head. Signal from this transducer is amplified in amplifier with correction of zero line and is transmitted into computer by analog-to-digital converter. Obtained data are processed in computer. EFFECT: simplified diagnosing of engine condition, reduced labor input, improved accuracy of checking. 4 dwg
