FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine blood glucose. In one embodiment, a system is provided for measuring the concentration of an analyte, which includes a test strip and an analyte meter. Test strip includes a substrate, a plurality of electrodes connected to respective electrode connectors. Analyte meter includes a housing with a test strip port connector configured to connect to the respective electrode connectors of the test strip, and a microprocessor connected to the test strip port connector. In the measuring device, the microprocessor is designed to: apply a first signal to the plurality of electrodes so that a physical characteristic of a fluid sample is determined; estimate an analyte concentration based on a predetermined sampling time point during a test sequence; apply a second signal to a first electrode and a second electrode of the plurality of electrodes at a specified sampling time point during the test sequence, measure a signal output at a plurality of time points including the specified sampling time for each of the first and second electrodes; measure a signal output at a predetermined offset time interval (Δt) from the specified sampling time for each of the first and second electrodes; evaluate, for each of the first and second electrodes, a slope of the signal outputs between the predetermined offset time interval and the specified sampling time, and, depending on this, determine or calculate analyte concentration from the signal outputs of the first and second electrodes and notify the analyte concentration; or report an error.
EFFECT: various embodiments of methods and systems are provided that enable the detection of a more accurate analyte concentration by a biosensor by determining at least one physical characteristic.
