FIELD: navigation.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of defining one's own position. Definition of the own position is carried out by the method by the device that detects the positions of the landmarks present around the vehicle and accumulates the detected reference points as data on the basis of the amount of movement of the vehicle. Further, it extracts straight lines from the accumulated data of reference points, selects fragments of these reference positions used to evaluate its own position, based on the angles formed by the intersecting extracted straight lines. Position of the vehicle is evaluated by comparing the selected fragments of these reference points and landmark positions in cartographic information.
EFFECT: provides the accuracy of defining own position.
