FIELD: image processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image processing. Image processing apparatus comprises: input port (IN) for receiving image (3DV) of object (HT) acquired at field of view (FoV) by imager (USP), the image recording a pose of the object corresponding to the imager's field of view (FoV); a classifier configured to use geometric model (MOD) of object (HT) to determine, from a collection of pre-defined poses, the pose of the object as recorded in the image; output port (OUT) configured to output a pose parameter descriptive of the determined pose, wherein the classifier uses a generalised Hough transform (GHT), to determine the object's pose, each of the predefined poses associated with a point in the Hough parameter space of the GHT.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of segmentation results by determining the pose of the object captured in the image.
