FIELD: radar ranging and radio navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar and can be used to determine the velocity modulus of non-deicing aerodynamic target (AC) primarily in a radar with coarse azimuth measurements. From the range squared range, the velocity modulus is estimated, root-mean-square error (RMS) of the velocity modulus is calculated, the radial velocity of AC is determined, calculating the difference between the velocity modulus estimate and the absolute radial velocity value, comparing this difference with RMS, if the difference is greater than RMS, the value of the velocity modulus estimate is given to the consumers, if the difference is less than RMS, then the consumers are given the value of the radial velocity of the aerodynamic target.
EFFECT: increase the accuracy of determining of the velocity modulus.
