SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar and can be used in radar stations with rough azimuth and elevation angle measurements. The technical result is high accuracy of determining the magnitude of velocity of an aerodynamic target. Said result is achieved by generating a fixed sample of values of squares of range, estimating a second increment of the square of range in one scan via optimum weighed summation of the values of squares of range, dividing said estimate by the scanning period of the radar station squared and obtaining the value of the square of the magnitude of velocity of the aerodynamic target flying on a linear trajectory.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining the magnitude of velocity is achieved by eliminating the effect of azimuth and elevation angle measurement errors.
